V. Vay-chee Cheng has been working with clients in health care for more than 30 years. Her work has evolved in that time, from working as a nurse in hospital and home health settings, to licensed massage therapy, and finally to her studies and practice of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Her assessment and diagnostic skills are an integration of her education and experience in both Western nursing and TCM. Her sessions are integrative, innovative and informative.
Vay-chee believes that Traditional Chinese Medicine is based on influencing the qi (chee) of your body. Qi is the force that moves in your body, that powers your ability to think, to walk, to digest food, to keep warm. All the things that you do. Like the wind, it can't be seen, but you can see its effects and where it moves. Qi flows along pathways in your body and when you are healthy and strong, your qi is abundant, moves smoothly everywhere and is of good quality. When you are weak, sick, or in pain, it means that you are having a problem with you qi. Your qi can be weak, it can get stuck, and it can pick up bad qualities. The tools of Chinese Medicine work to keep your qi healthy or to repair it.
